Frequently Asked Questions

Where are sessions located?

I offer sessions online for people in California.

My fee is $150 for a 50 minute session. I do offer a few sliding scale spots on a need basis.

Yes. I take Anthem Medi-Cal, Carelon Medi-Cal, and Partnership Health Plan.

Many county based insurances contract out to Anthem or Carelon. (This is different from the Medi-Cal that has the California Poppy on the insurance card.)

I am also an out of network (OON) provider and can offer a superbill at your request. Please contact your insurance provider for OON benefits.

Typically I see clients for 50 minutes, once a week. There maybe times, when in crisis, that twice a week is beneficial to give support during times of greater need. Twice a week is typically only for a short duration of a week to two months.

The length of time spent in therapy is individualized. Sometimes people come for a couple months and others find long term therapy to be beneficial.

In our first few sessions, we will discuss what brings you in to therapy and clarify what goals you would like support with. There may be goals that you want to focus on and we can see how to co-create goals that may act as stepping stones to get to other goals.

I will listen to what is alive for you in the present moment, which can act as an entry point into the psyche. I use non-violent principles in my work, so I may slow the process down, or we may need to work at the border of where you may want to go, in order to ease into difficult material. Sometimes a session may consist of you talking, where I will be asking open ended questions to get you to go deeper. Other times there will be moments of mindfulness, attention on the body, studying movements or sensations that have come up during the session. Other times, the imagination can be used to help process and study what is going on in the psyche.

It is important to know that healing is not always linear and things may feel more difficult before they improve. This is a normal part of the process. Finding ways to stay resourced and assist in keeping regulated will be part of our dialogue.
